It's Been A While

So it's been a while since I've posted, life has really just got in the way. I feel like this whole past ten months of my life have just rushed by. Here's a quick run down of my life past & present.

So I'm living in Provo, Utah and going to school at Brigham Young University. It absolutely beautiful year-round. The campus is simply beautiful and maintained to perfection. The mountains are gorgeous and the weather is always pretty nice except for when this happens....

The snow was a whole new experience for me. Growing up in South Georgia gives you any warning what it will be like. It's not just cold, it's wet and sloshy and lasts forever! It was though beautiful and taught me how to dress for when the entire world freezes over.

This is Sean, we've been dating since this past Fall and he's the best. He's made my BYU experience tons of fun. He's a great guy and makes every thing a little bit more fun, whether it's a really boring class or a surprise picnic on the temple grounds. I'm one lucky girl to have met him.

Then there's the best roommates a girl could ask for. Courtney and Aimee have been so much fun to live with for the past two semesters. From dancing in the rain to catching the microwave on fire to turning our entire apartment into a fort, they made my freshman year at BYU a ball.

Matt, Dean, & Joey. These boys have been some of the best friends I've ever had. Matt & Joey were roommates at BYU in the building next to mine. Matt is from Simi Valley, CA and Joey is from Loganville, GA. They were always popping into my apartment to chat, get a haircut, or hang out. They always kept me smiling. Dean is Joey's best friend and lives in Loganville. He is an awesome guy and I've gotten to know him better since I've been home for the summer. I'm so thankful to have these great guys as friends.

Last but far from least, I loved living in a city with a temple right down the street! It was one of my very favorite spots to visit all school year. It always offered a sense of peace and happiness.

So there's my update of my freshman year. It was great. Super hard, stressful, and often very cold, but wonderful. I'll go back in the fall to continue classes. Hopefully after fall semester I will have my mission call and will be preparing to serve as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Stay tuned!

I just need to get it out.

Here I am at BYU. A freshman, studying Communication Disorders. My classes are hard. I mean hard okay? Let's go over my day.

Wake Up
7:30 Meeting for [insert any volunteer program here]
9:00 Y-Serve Planning
10:00 Book of Mormon...still can't figure out why this class is so hard for me.
11:00-1:00 I get a break. Check in with Tyler, look over any homework, breath deeply.
1:00-2:00 American Heritage, the devil's idea of the perfect class. Kill me.
2:00-3:00 Biology- In class: "This is the process of photosynthesis" Test: "What is the chemical composition of this cow?"
3:00-4:00 Field trip to the Subway off-campus to get a caffeinated beverage with my favorite roommate.
4:00-6:00 American Sign Language. Really? The ABC's? My colors? Get me out of this class.

Then I am finally awarded the opportunity to go home and do piles of homework, study pointless information that refuses to stick in my brain, and blah, blah, blah.

I am come to the conclusion that I'm really good being at college, just not being a college student.
I'm good at late night movies, concerts, pep-rallies, building forts, making desserts, talking to cute boys (this one in particular is my very favorite...) and pulling all-nighters. I'm not good at testing, sitting still, bringing the right books to class, taking relevant (doodle-free) notes, and being a student.

But anyways, so yeah. I'm here at the Y. I just needed some way to complain.

Catch up.

Okay, so I have definitely not been writing like I should. But then again, I do not have some permanently binding commitment to writing a post every day. I just like to.

So here's a quick run down:
  • When I say I haven't been writing like I should, I am only referring to my sweet little blog. I have been pumping out English papers like a machine lately.
  • My parents surprised my sister and I with plane tickets for Beijing to go visit my grandparents. I miss them so much. Little things remind me of how much I miss them. Like when my papers need a good critic or those pants that have been needed to be hemmed since Gramma first left.
  • I went to homecoming with Mr. Tucker. We had a grand time with friends at a Japanese Habachi grill and we won our football game.
  • I have been keeping up with my commitment to be there for every single Blue Devil kickoff of the season. We're undefeated thus far and looking up. I'm so proud of my boys.
  • My sisters have been letting me do their hair lately, I love it.
  • I haven't grown any taller. Bummer. But maybe a little thinner, which definitely makes up for the lack in height gain.
So that's about it, I think. Here are some pictures of my life right now.

Find Joy.

This is such an amazing story. It gives me hope. Hope for humanity.
